Friends star Jennifer Aniston has discussed whether she thinks another reunion is in the cards. The Golden Globe winner played Rachel Green on the hit sitcom, which ran on NBC for 10 seasons between 1994 and 2004. In early 2021, HBO Max aired Friends: The Reunion, bringing Aniston and her co-stars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer together for a massive event celebrating and reminiscing about the series.

Per Daily Mail, Aniston recently appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show while promoting her new Netflix film Murder Mystery 2. When she was asked if there could potentially be a reprisal of the Friends reunion, she provided a fairly candid answer, saying that while it wouldn't not happen, she believes the 2021 special was their "swan song." I don't think so. I think that was it, I think that was the swan song. But you do never know... Everybody stays in touch. We'll never shake each other. Family forever!

The Friends Cast Has Moved On

There is one aspect of the Friends reunion that Aniston did not mention in this recent quote. In previous interviews, she has stated that there were several aspects of the special that made her uncomfortable, to the point of briefly walking out. She confessed that looking back at the emotional turmoil of her life during the period that Friends went off the air was more challenging than she had anticipated.

In addition to her probable reluctance to go back to that emotional place, the Friends cast are all at places in their careers where they likely don't want to keep looking back at their seminal 1990s sitcom. Cox, for instance, was just in Scream 6, a movie that hit No. 1 at the box office earlier this month. Their other co-stars also have their hands full, including Kudrow with HouseBroken and the upcoming Time Bandits television series.

The men of Friends also have full plates, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. It seems unlikely that all six of them, who had only reunited twice as a full group between the end of the series and the reunion special, would be able to arrange their schedules to make room. It would also likely depend on whether they feel they have any new insights to explore about the show, which has been discussed and re-discussed endlessly in the near-20 years since its finale.
