Kentia palms are safe for cats and dogs as they are not toxic. However, if ingested, they may cause mild stomach problems like nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting that usually clear up within a few hours. It is advisable to keep pets away from the plants and consult a veterinarian if symptoms persist. Outdoor Kentia palms can be protected with barriers or companion plants. These slow-growing palms, native to Australia, have large, glossy fronds and prefer bright, indirect light. Fertilize them every two to three months during spring and summer.
